About the Workshop
Sahoko is originally from Tokyo, Japan. Before moving to Ireland, she already had a distinguished career as an underwater camerawoman, artist and teacher.
Her paintings and drawings of sea creatures and animal skulls display a deep passion for the natural world from which she draws daily inspiration.
Bog Bodies, a collection of paintings and drawings taps in to the humanity of these remarkably preserved people who lay undiscovered for hundreds of years.
Sahoko has exhibited extensively in Ireland including The National Gallery of Ireland, The Royal Ulster Academy, The RHA Annual Exhibition.
Sahoko is an experienced teacher having taught in The National Gallery of Ireland, The RHA, Sallynoggin College of Further Education among others.
This intensive 2 day course will focus on the basic understanding of the Human Anatomy using an experienced life model, an indispensable foundation for any artist.
Sahoko will give demonstrations how to draw in a step by step approach to give you a full visual rather than conceptual understanding of the life drawing process.
Saturday will include head studies, hands and feet studies, head to toe structure and full figure.
On Sunday, we will focus on a tonal head study and the afternoon will see us concentrating on on one pose taking into account composition, proportion and technique.
